Artist Spotlight: Iron Gate Design
Fred Riales is the designer behind Iron Gate Design

What exciting things will you be bringing to the Local Treasures one day market February 25?
At the moment, sea shells are my medium. The home decor items I have created and will be showing are shell wreaths, votive/candle holders, picture frames, mirrors, and ornaments. I will have paintings on canvas and fabric of birds, dogs, flowers, etc.
What inspires you to make what you make?
When I see things that I think are beautiful, I am humbled to think that I could convey that beauty to canvas as a painting or to create an item for use in a home and share my feelings with other people. God has given me so many talents, I want to share.
What is your most treasured art, craft, or design tool and why?
This is a difficult question because I find many ways for creative expression. Whether I'm painting, creating floral designs, crafting items for personal or home use, I use imagination, color, texture, technique and the inherent beauty of the object. All are treasures.
Spring is such a beautiful season in the south. What do you look forward to each spring?
The season brings warm weather that wakes up nature. Things related to water inspire me - color of fresh green plants - birds - fish - flowers - butterflies - gardens.
Tennis shoes, sandals, flip flips or barefoot?
Sandals are my choice for puttering at the beach, in the yard, or shopping.
